XConnect’s Port History enriches Number Information Services with a powerful view of every number’s journey. By tracking how often and when a number has been ported, you gain clearer insight into identity trust, risk, and routing. This enables stronger fraud prevention, more accurate risk scoring, and smarter routing decisions. Port History also supports regulatory compliance and audit transparency, giving operators, CPaaS providers, and enterprises the data confidence they need to stay secure and connected.

There are two variants of the port history service, depending on the particular country’s data source:
  • Where XConnect has onboarded the MNP database for a particular country Port history is derived from the regular updates to the database.
  • Remote countries –
o Where XConnect can provide port history using traffic records from NIS service queries,
or where XConnect can query a remote providers’ port history service.

Information available between onboard and remote sources varies due to the nature of the data source.
Port History is only available on the XConnect NIS HTTPS query interface and only applies to mobile
TNs.

Benefits of Port History

Improved KYC/Identity Confidence

Improved KYC/Identity Confidence

Knowing how many times a number has been ported and when the last port occurred helps you assess the stability and legitimacy of the number. It adds an extra data point in “Know Your Customer” (KYC) validation

Reduced False-Positives in SIM Swap / Fraud Alerts

Reduced False-Positives in SIM Swap / Fraud Alerts

Port History data allows you to distinguish legitimate porting activity from suspicious behavior. That means fewer false alarms when systems detect changes or anomalies, and better fraud detection outcomes.

Enhanced Risk Profiling & Scoring

Enhanced Risk Profiling & Scoring

A number that has been ported many times in a short period or recently may carry elevated risk. You can use port history as a weighting factor in risk-scoring models for fraud or trust.

Better Routing & Traffic Assurance

Better Routing & Traffic Assurance

Historical porting information helps network operators understand the “port churn” of numbers, which can guide decisions about routing, fallback paths, and optimization.

Transparency & Auditability

Retaining a record of porting events gives you an auditable trail. In regulatory, compliance, or dispute scenarios, being able to show when and how many times a number changed can be valuable.
